Taking Summer Courses

Academy students may elect to take a class during our summer semester. Students will be considered as dual-enrollment applicants. Due to time commitments of the Academy research projects, we ask that participants limit themselves to enrolling in four or fewer credit hours.  If a student wishes to take more than four credit hours, we ask that they discuss this opportunity with their research mentor and SRA directors first. Many science and math courses, when the lecture and laboratory section are taken together, are five credit hour courses at Missouri S&T. A complete listing of available courses is available [online]. Missouri S&T's summer course schedule will be available after March 21, 2008.

You may select and enroll in a class on “Move-In Day” but should be aware that classes will begin the following morning. Final exams conclude August 1, 2008.

Summer courses begin June 9 and final exams conclude August 1.

Fee information will not be available until April 1, 2008 as educational fees for the 2008-2009 academic year will not be set by the UM Board of Curators until this time. Standard Missouri resident, Midwest student exchange resident and Non-Missouri resident rates apply. While these will likely not be the correct fee amounts for the Summer '08 academic semester, to give you a rough estimate UM academic fees for last summer were as follows:

  • Missouri Resident:
    $235.90 per credit hour
  • Midwest Student Exchange Resident:
(residents of Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and Wisconsin)
    $353.85 per credit hour
  • Non-Missouri Resident:
    $591.10 per credit hour
