Here's the outline of events from the 2008 Academy to give you a good idea of what to expect. As trips and activities are finalized, dates for those events will be posted. 

April 1
Final application date. For students taking late spring ACT/SAT exams, we will wait and process applications upon receipt of scores without penalty to your application.

May 1
Research assignments and Acceptance Packets are mailed to applicants selected to participate in the 2008 Academy.

May 12
Acceptance Packets should be returned to Missouri S&T for all students planning to participate in the 2008 Academy. If any students are unable to attend, additional applicants will be invited to participate in the 2008 Academy pending research project availability.

June 8, Sunday     "Move-In Day"
All students will arrive on campus and get settled-in. We'll spend the day getting ID cards, registering for courses, going over rules and expectations and familiarizing everyone with our campus. Final payment for the Academy is due on or before this date.

Participants that are under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent to sign permission and residential life forms. A schedule for the day:

   4:00 PM
Arrive on campus and get settled. Residential College front desk. All permission forms will be signed when you check-in. Parents: feel free to depart campus any time after your child is checked-in. Campus staff and SRA coordinators will be available to answer questions at the Residential College.
2:45 PMParent Q&A session.  -optional-
3:15 PMSummer class registration. Students taking summer courses will register.
5:00 PMDinner for students. If families would like to have dinner on their own, feel free to do so.

June 9
We'll spend the morning getting ID cards, completing course registration, going over rules and expectations and familiarizing everyone with our campus. The afternoon will include a "Meet and Greet" social with faculty mentors, after which participants will head off to their labs with faculty mentors to discuss projects and expectations. Start of the summer semester for students taking courses.

Tour Boeing's Phantom Works plant and design center, and go to St. Louis Cardinals baseball game courtesy of Boeing.

Mid July       Kansas City Field-trip

Mid July     "Summer Showcase"
Families, summer researchers, faculty mentors and members of the campus community are invited to tour each participant's project and learn about the exciting things going on at the Summer Research Academy.

Mid July        Chicago Field-trip
Annual trip to Chicago to tour engineering companies and see the sights.

August 1
Final exams conclude for students taking courses. Wrap-up and lab cleaning day for research projects.

August 1, Friday     "Homeward Bound"
A Wrap-Up banquet for families and guests will conclude the Academy. Each student will display a report of their project and be available for questions about their experiences. A schedule for the day:

11:00 AMResearch Fair.
12:00 PMBanquet for families and guests.
1:30 PMMove-out of the Residential College and depart for home
3:00 PMClose of the 2007 Academy
